En 2019-2020, j'étais un étudiant d'échange de jeunes du Rotary à Bergerac, en France. Après l'une des années les plus enrichissantes de ma vie, j'ai voulu continuer à travailler avec le Rotary International et le Rotary Youth Exchange. Avec mon district Rotary, D7770, j'ai été invité à participer à notre comité d'échange de jeunes en menant des entretiens avec les étudiants potentiels en échange, en accompagnant et en prenant la parole lors des formations d'étudiants entrants et sortants, et en faisant des présentations à la conférence annuelle du district 7770 au nom du comité d'échange de jeunes. Grâce à ma participation à l'échange de jeunes du Rotary, j'ai amélioré mes compétences oratoires et mon niveau d'aisance dans un environnement professionnel. Je suis très chanceux de pouvoir participer à ce titre puisque je ne suis pas encore éligible pour devenir Rotarien. En tant que non-Rotarien, je ne suis pas en mesure d'occuper un poste formel au sein du comité, mais je suis le seul ancien étudiant d'échange à avoir été invité à participer aux activités du comité. Les membres officiels du comité ont maintenant la trentaine et cela fait des décennies qu’ils n’ont pas étudié à l’étranger. J'offre aux étudiants un contact plus récent ayant étudié à l'étranger dans une société plus proche de la leur. Travailler avec la commission Rotary Youth Exchange m'a permis de rencontrer tant de jeunes adultes extraordinaires du monde entier. Ce poste m'a permis d'établir de précieuses relations professionnelles dans tout l'État de Caroline du Sud et dans tout le Rotary International. Ensemble, nous travaillons à promouvoir l'acceptation et l'amitié entre les étudiants, les Rotariens et les autres membres de la communauté.

In 2019-2020, I was a Rotary Youth Exchange student studying in Bergerac, France. After one of the most enriching years of my life, I wanted to continue working with Rotary International and Rotary Youth Exchange. With my Rotary district, D7770, I have been invited to participate on our Youth Exchange Committee conducting interviews for prospective exchange students, chaperoning and speaking at inbound and outbound student trainings, and presenting at the District 7770 Annual Conference on behalf of the Youth Exchange Committee. Through my participation in Rotary Youth Exchange, I have improved my public speaking skills and comfort level in a professional environment. I am very fortunate to be able to participate in this capacity since I am not yet eligible to be a Rotarian. As a non-Rotarian, I am unable to hold a formal committee position, but I am the only former exchange student who has been invited to participate in committee activities. The formal committee members are now in their 30s and it has been decades since they studied abroad. I provide the current students with a more recent contact who studied abroad in a society more similar to theirs. Working with the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee has allowed me to meet so many amazing young adults from around the world. This position has provided me with valuable professional connections across the state of South Carolina and throughout Rotary International. Together we work to promote acceptance and friendship among students, Rotarians, and other community members.
